When you ask most couples how they met, they'll tell you it was at University, or in a bar, or at work. The story that Claudia and Lateef had to share, however, is a modern day tale of long distance love, their lives intersecting through the thoroughly contemporary medium of Chat Roulette!
With Claudia studying Contour Fashion at DMU in Leicester, and Lateef only having a couple of days left before he shot off back to the USA, you could see that they were making the most of their brief time together - their smiles and laughter came easily which made the whole shoot a pleasure!
We met up for an engagement shoot in Leicester City Centre one overcast day early in April and headed straight to the second floor of Silver Arcade to make the most of the soft afternoon light. We took a couple of shots before being moved on by an overzealous man in a fluorescent jacket (despite the fact that we had permission), and decided that, under the pretence of finding some shelter from the first splooshes of a downpour, it was time for some tasty Caribbean food and cocktails!
With our creativity suitably lubricated and our waistbands fitting slightly more snug, we ventured out into the drizzle. There are some lovely spots around Leicester City Centre if you know where to look - both indoors and outdoors, and one of these is the area surrounding the cathedral. The cobbled walkways and antique lamp posts lend the region an aura of period romanticism and with the rain starting to get heavier it proved to be the perfect backdrop for some backlit shots under an umbrella.
Great day out with a lovely couple - looking forward to shooting their wedding in London at the end of July!
