Last week I was commissioned by Buzzfeed UK to provide photographs for an article about street art in Birmingham, specifically Digbeth. Street art has always been an interest of mine, and was actually the reason I started to take photos with a DSLR many moons ago. My first year of taking photos was spent mostly urbexing and exploring abandoned buildings, which subsequently lead to my first batch of portraits taken using graffiti murals as a backdrop.
Walking around and snapping photos around Digbeth proved to be a bit of a blast from the past - I ended up going home and looking back through my first year of photos. Back then, all I had was a Canon 1100d with a 18-55mm kit lens, a single manual speedlight and a white shoot through umbrella - I'd like to think I've come a long way!
